Asbestos ManagementThe “Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations” (2006) states that anyone in command of a business/premises or indeed any duty holder has an obligation to be able to assess, identify and control the presence of any asbestos and that a Asbestos Management Plan must be in place, especially in case there is asbestos or presumed asbestos on the premises. Put simply, it is a requirement to not only manage asbestos, but to maintain it under safe circumstances. A typical Asbestos Management Plan might include: Asbestos information and terminology. Instructions for managing asbestos in the workplace. Monitoring and maintenance. Staff training. Control of any asbestos-containing materials. Instructions regarding the maintenance of asbestos in a safe manner. Information management / Communication. Emergency procedures. An Asbestos Management Plan should be in place to help protect staff and workers alike from the dangers that can be posed by asbestos or potential asbestos on the premises. |
